Jurupa Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Norte Vista by a score of 8-4. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Daniel Robles looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Francisco Urena was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Nathan Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Jurupa Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, JW North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Citrus Hill. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Huskies have suffered since April 12, 2024.
JW North saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Sanchez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Nicolas Zepeda was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
JW North's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Jurupa Valley, their record now sits at 9-5.
JW North's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Jurupa Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game.
