Football Recap: Columbine Wins Going Away Against Cherokee Trail

Columbine's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Cherokee Trail Cougars as they made off with a 34-13 victory. That looming 34-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rebels yet this season.

Ella Rieben looked great while leading her team to the win, rushing for 79 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 104 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 79 rushing yards gave her a new career-high. Eden Lohman got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Columbine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tea Lacrue, Rieben, and Lohman picked up one apiece. Rieben got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Columbine's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6. As for Cherokee Trail, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Columbine will take on Highlands Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cherokee Trail, they will face off against Smoky Hill at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will be up against the Buffaloes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
