Basketball Game Preview: Shelbyville Rams vs. Taylorville Tornadoes

The Shelbyville Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Taylorville Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Saturday, Shelbyville came up short against St. Anthony and fell 57-45. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 82nd).

Meanwhile, Taylorville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 53-47 to Robinson. The Tornadoes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Taylorville now has a losing record of 14-15. As for Shelbyville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 15-11 record this season.

Shelbyville took their win against Taylorville when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 80-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shelbyville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
