Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caddo Magnet). Everything went their way against the Southwood Cowboys on Wednesday as the Caddo Magnet Mustangs made off with a 19-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Valerie Ruiz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Caddo Magnet let Caitlyn Phillips and Landry McLamb run wild. Phillips went 2-for-3 with one home run and six RBI, while McLamb went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those six RBI gave Phillips a new career-high. Grace Chaisson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
