Soccer Recap: Hopewell Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Hopewell was not quite Providence's equal in the second half on Monday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1. Hopewell haven't had much luck with Providence recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Hopewell's goal came courtesy of Maggie Osterndorf, who's now up to seven this season.

Hopewell's loss dropped their record down to 9-5-2. As for Providence, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopewell will face off against Harding University at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Providence, they will take on Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence will be up against Independence's rather soft defense (which has allowed 3.11 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
