Softball Game Preview: Scott Eagles vs. Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts

The Scott Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Scott is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Scott couldn't beat Grant County on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Eagles fell just short of the Braves by a score of 7-6.

Elise Manhardt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lloyd Memorial started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Gallatin County. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Juggernauts in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Layla Laudick put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Laudick was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Laudick wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 with one double. Lorelei Tomlinson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Lloyd Memorial's record is now 4-7. As for Scott, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.

Scott took their win against Lloyd Memorial when the teams last played back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Juggernauts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
