Volleyball Recap: Byers Comes Up Short

Byers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Simla Cubs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20, 25-11.

Abi Green paced Byers' offense, picking up five kills. Green got some help from Leyla Sayler and her 13 assists. Sayler also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Karley Linnebur, racking up three apiece.

Byers' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Simla, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Byers will head out on the road to face off against Clear Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Simla, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Limon on the 30th.
