Volleyball Recap: Kankakee Valley Comes Up Short

Kankakee Valley came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Illiana Christian Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Kougars of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2020.

Kankakee Valley was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Illiana Christian work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 26-24, 25-17.

Aubrey Stowers paced Kankakee Valley's offense, picking up nine kills. Stowers got some help from Gabrielle Diener and her 14 assists. Finally, Tess Bell kept Kankakee Valley's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Grace Wonder was the offensive standout of the game as she had five aces and four digs. Those five aces gave her a new career-high.

Kankakee Valley now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Illiana Christian, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Kankakee Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against South Newton on the 19th. As for Illiana Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Lake Central on the 19th.
