After losing to Kearney Catholic the last time they met, Scotus decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Scotus Shamrocks came out on top against the Kearney Catholic Stars by a score of 62-53 on Saturday. Given the Shamrocks' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Stars are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Kearney Catholic still got an impressive performance from Owen Axmann, who posted 20 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Axmann a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Will Hogeland, who put up ten points and eight boards.

Scotus has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Kearney Catholic, their record now sits at 10-9.

Coming up, Scotus will face off against Lakeview at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Scotus has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three matchups. As for Kearney Catholic, they will challenge Ashland-Greenwood on Thursday.
