Preview: Lincoln County Lynx vs. Needles Mustangs
The Lincoln County Lynx will head out on the road to face off against the Needles Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln County is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Lincoln County missed an extra point against Needles on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Lincoln County and Needles were almost perfectly matched up, but Lincoln County suffered an agonizing 22-21 loss. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lincoln County came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 56th in Nevada, while Needles is ranked 649th in California).
Despite their loss, Lincoln County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kalen Bart, who picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Kristian Johnson, who rushed for 84 yards on only nine carries.
Lincoln County now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Needles, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
