Football Recap: Covington Catholic Takes a Loss

If Covington Catholic was feeling good fresh off their 35-6 takedown of Central last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Colonels fell just short of the Highlands Bluebirds by a score of 31-28 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colonels of the 32-22 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

It was another big night for Tayden Lorenzen, who rushed for 81 yards and three TDs, and also caught one touchdown for Highlands.

Covington Catholic's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-3. As for Highlands, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Covington Catholic will welcome Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Highlands, they will venture away from home to take on Elder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 12.6 points per game this season, so the Bluebirds' offense will have their work cut out for them.
