Baseball Game Preview: Kofa Kings vs. San Luis Sidewinders

The Kofa Kings will square off against the San Luis Sidewinders at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Kofa has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Kofa needed a bit of extra time to put away Red Mountain. They won by a run and slipped past the Mountain Lions 7-6.

Ernesto Hernandez tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Kofa let Ryan Rosas and Daniel Zazueta run wild. Rosas scored two runs while going 4-for-4, while Zazueta went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. What's more, Rosas posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ozzie Ortiz, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Kofa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, San Luis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Verrado.

Cesar Chavira made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI.

Kofa now has a winning record of 8-7. As for San Luis, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

Kofa took their victory against San Luis when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Kings repeat their success, or do the Sidewinders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
