Softball Recap: Dublin Takes a Loss

Dublin extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-2. They fell 18-14 to the De Leon Bearcats. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (11), the Lions still had to take the loss.

Kaylee Hayes made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Tylor Nail was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

As for De Leon, the win got them back to even at 2-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On De Leon's side, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Hodges, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Hodges has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Alea Rubio, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Dublin will challenge Brady at 12:25 p.m. on Friday. As for De Leon, they will face off against Brownwood on Thursday. The Lions will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bearcats surely won't give up without a fight.
