Softball Recap: East Alton-Wood River Comes Up Short

East Alton-Wood River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alton Redbirds. The Oilers were not able to make up for their loss to the Redbirds from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Haley Pratt and Olivia Sheets stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pratt went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Sheets went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Morgan Reynolds also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

East Alton-Wood River's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Alton, their victory ended an 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-15.

East Alton-Wood River didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-5 loss against Freeburg on the 5th. As for Alton, they have also already played their next contest, a 17-1 win against Althoff Catholic on the 5th.
