Basketball Game Preview: Wausa Vikings vs. Bloomfield Bees

Wausa is 2-8 against Bloomfield since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wausa Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bloomfield Bees at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Wausa beat Winside 44-32. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wausa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taylor Dawson, who posted 13 points and four steals. Dawson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played. Olivia Barta was another key player, putting up 14 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Bloomfield came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 52-27 margin over the Wildcats. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-15.

Bloomfield found their leader in freshman Madyson Mlady, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mlady has scored at least a third of Bloomfield's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Eisenhauer, who scored eight points and seven boards.

Bloomfield has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Wausa, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-8.

Wausa was able to grind out a solid win over Bloomfield when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 39-30. Does Wausa have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bloomfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
