Basketball Recap: Gage Mcmanus' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Buford over Chester

Buford lost against Chester last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Buford Yellow Jackets took a hard 57-40 fall against the Chester Cyclones.

Buford lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gage McManus, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 boards. Those 19 rebounds gave McManus a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Henderson, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Buford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Buford's loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Chester, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.

Buford and Chesterfield will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chester, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 84-49 defeat against Union County on the 16th.
