Softball Recap: Gowanda Gets the Win

While Gowanda's victory against Brocton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since March 31st.

Addison Kota was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Kota was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Holland Browning was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Sophia Bobseine was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Gowanda and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Brocton, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Gowanda will venture away from home to take on Clarence at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brocton, they will challenge Randolph at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
