Basketball Recap: Adison Hayes and Brookelyn Roach Secure Win for Grainger

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cocke County, Grainger was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Volunteer Falcons 72-47. The Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Grainger to victory were Brookelyn Roach and Adison Hayes. Roach went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points in addition to six assists and three steals, while Hayes posted 19 points and four steals. That's the most steals Hayes has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maribeth Stratton, who scored eight points.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Scarlett McClaran, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisabeth Byington, who earned eight points and five boards.

Grainger has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Volunteer, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.

Grainger has already played their next game (against Claiborne), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Volunteer didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-49 defeat against West Ridge on the 1st.
