Baseball Recap: Morristown-Beard Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Morristown-Beard had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Mountain Lakes on Monday. The Crimson's pitcher stepped up to hand the Lakers a 6-0 shutout. The game was the first time the Crimson have beaten the Lakers on their field since May 4, 2016.

The result came thanks to Sam Bastardo's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Morristown-Beard's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alex Hriczov, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Hriczov has posted since back in April.

Morristown-Beard's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-6. As for Mountain Lakes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.

Morristown-Beard will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lakers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
