Baseball Recap: Caldwell County Picks Up 16th Straight Win at Home

Caldwell County entered their tilt with Crittenden County on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Rockets 8-0. Considering the Tigers have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Scott Cortner's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ari Wells, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Stevens, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Caldwell County's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Crittenden County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
