Basketball Game Preview: Kinder Yellowjackets vs. Jena Giants

The Kinder Yellowjackets will square off against the Jena Giants on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Kinder is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Winnfield as Kinder made off with a 57-33 win. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Tigers are ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Jena over Port Allen in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Jena blew Port Allen out of the water with a 69-30 final score. The Giants pushed the score to 50-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pelicans had little chance of recovering from.

Kinder is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points over those games. The victory (which was Jena's third in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

Kinder was able to grind out a solid win over Jena in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 42-35. Does Kinder have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jena turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
