Basketball Recap: Shady Acres Christian Falls to Humble Christian in First Game of Season

Shady Acres Christian had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were dealt a 44-16 defeat at the hands of the Humble Christian Cougars. The Mavericks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 22-2.

Humble Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lilly McMullen, who made all 10 shots she took to post 20 points and six rebounds. Those 20 points gave McMullen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Deriyah Williams, who posted seven points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

The win made it two in a row for Humble Christian and bumps their season record up to 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shady Acres Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Banff at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Humble Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Lake Houston HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
