It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lake Mead Christian Academy had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Needles Mustangs. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won 13 contests in a row.

Hunter Zierleyn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lake Mead Christian Academy let Danny Yeates and Cameron LaPres run wild. Yeates went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while LaPres went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bowe Farmer, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

Lake Mead Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.

Lake Mead Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 23-1. As for Needles, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-10-1.
