Basketball Recap: Palm Beach Gardens' Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Palm Beach Gardens was riding high fresh off their 68-43 takedown of Leonard last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Palm Beach Gardens Gators fell 68-58 to the Dwyer Panthers on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that the Gators let down their fans at home.

Despite the defeat, Palm Beach Gardens saw an underclassman step up: freshman Trent Coley went 5 for 9 en route to 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Coley has scored all season. Sam Thomas was another key player, putting up ten points.

JORDAN QUINCE was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 12 on his way to 20 points in addition to six boards and five assists for Dwyer. QUINCE is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was TAMARI REED, who posted 16 points.

Palm Beach Gardens' loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-5. As for Dwyer, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Palm Beach Gardens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-68 defeat against St. John Paul II Academy on the 16th. Dwyer has also already played their next contest, a 48-45 win against Jupiter on the 17th.
