Basketball Recap: Horn Lake Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Derrick Gilliam and Jordan Simmons

Horn Lake and Tupelo squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Horn Lake had to settle for second. They lost to the Tupelo Golden Wave at home by a 72-57 margin. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Golden Wave from their previous meeting back in February of 2022.

Horn Lake's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordan Simmons, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 21 points and five steals, and Derrick Gilliam, who posted 15 points and three steals. The match was Simmons' fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Eric Oliver Jr was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Horn Lake's loss dropped their record down to 26-5. As for Tupelo, their win bumped their record up to 15-8.

As of now, neither Horn Lake nor Tupelo have any future games scheduled.
