Baseball Game Preview: St. James Sharks vs. Myrtle Beach Seahawks

St. James and Myrtle Beach are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The St. James Sharks will venture away from home to challenge the Myrtle Beach Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. James' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Myrtle Beach's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. James is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over Myrtle Beach on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Sharks as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Henry Dufour looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, St. James let Alex Sandt and Jackson Squires run wild. Sandt went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Squires scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Squires a new career-high. Ayden Smith also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

St. James always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Myrtle Beach has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. St. James picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-5.
