Softball Recap: Grant Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

On Wednesday Grant's undefeated season almost came to an end. They skirted past the Big Rapids Cardinals 5-3. The five-run effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Payton Shoemaker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Thompson was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Addison Herrmann, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Grant's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Big Rapids, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3-1.

Grant will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cardinals: the pair will be back at it again later today.
