Baseball Recap: St. Martin de Porres Comes Up Short

St. Martin de Porres extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They lost 28-0 to Lawrence Upper. St. Martin de Porres was not able to make up for their defeat to Lawrence Upper from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Lawrence Upper, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-4. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Lawrence Upper's part, Will Crooks was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and three doubles. Those five hits gave Crooks a new career-high. Nick Matteo was another key player, getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

St. Martin de Porres does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lawrence Upper, they will venture away from home to take on Bedford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bearcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.6 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
