Soccer Game Preview: Meridian vs. Lakewood + How To Watch

The Meridian Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Lakewood Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meridian's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Meridian's offense. They fell just short of Oak Harbor by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Meridian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Oak Harbor are ranked 76th).

Meanwhile, Lakewood also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Squalicum on Tuesday, falling 4-0.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 2-9-3. As for Meridian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11-1.

Everything went Meridian's way against Lakewood in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Meridian made off with a 4-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
