Football Recap: Sayre Eagles vs. Hooker Bulldogs
Sayre lost against Hooker back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eagles lost to the Bulldogs on the road by a 37-19 margin. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 79th).
Hooker got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justin Palacios out in front who rushed for 98 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries, and also picked up 68 receiving yards and one score. Palacios got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 58 yards. Keilan Robinson was another key player, throwing for 188 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 80% of his passes.
Sayre's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Hooker, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Coming up, Sayre will challenge Crescent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Hooker, they will take on Hinton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Comets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
