Softball Game Preview: Randolph Cardinals vs. Pine Valley Central Panthers

Randolph has gone 9-1 against Pine Valley Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cardinals will head out to square off against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Pine Valley Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Randolph, who comes in off a win.

Randolph is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Chautauqua Lake 10-3 on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cardinals as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Ryanne Bushey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Grace Arnold-Hill was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Aliza Hind was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Randolph was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Gowanda hit Pine Valley Central with a five-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. Pine Valley Central came up short against Gowanda, falling 12-0. Pine Valley Central hasn't had much luck with Gowanda recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Pine Valley Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Randolph, their record is now 3-6.

Randolph came out on top in a nail-biter against Pine Valley Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
