Recap: Clearview Clippers vs. Black River Pirates
The Clearview Clippers's four-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 87-67 margin over Black River. Clearview's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Jai Walton, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Cruz, who scored seven points along with nine assists and five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Black River lost, one person who can't be blamed is John Kray. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kray pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ridge Martin, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Clearview's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-3. As for Black River, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
Clearview will challenge Keystone at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keystone has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 191 points over their last three games. Black River will be home for the holidays to greet Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wellington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Black River in Ohio (Wellington is ranked 365th, while Black River is ranked 775th).
