Basketball Game Preview: West Carroll Thunder vs. River Ridge Wildcats

West Carroll hasn't had much luck against River Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The West Carroll Thunder will take on the River Ridge Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

West Carroll came up into this matchup off a tough 23-point loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Christian Life by a score of 45-43 on Monday. The Thunder's defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Meanwhile, River Ridge lost 61-36 to East Dubuque on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while the Warriors are ranked 189th).

West Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for River Ridge, they dropped their record down to 10-14 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

West Carroll was taken down by River Ridge 60-28 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can West Carroll avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
