Softball Recap: Sanger Gets the Win

Sanger's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sanger West Hornets, sneaking past 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Apaches in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Maddi Arganda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carolyn Kelzer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elissandra Reyna, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Sanger hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 8-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Sanger's victory bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Sanger West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Sanger nor Sanger West have any future games scheduled.
