Softball Preview: Collins Titans vs. West Jessamine Colts

The Collins Titans will head out on the road to square off against the West Jessamine Colts at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Collins has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Collins came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Woodford County, falling 17-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Titans were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, West Jessamine hadn't done well against Pulaski County recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Colts were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Maroons. The game was the first time the Colts have beaten the Maroons on their field since April 22, 2016.

Michaela Tate was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Tate was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Abigail Myszak was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Addi Vahle was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs.

West Jessamine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

West Jessamine now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Collins, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
