Football Recap: Farwell Steers vs. Stratford Elks

While it was Farwell who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Stratford who put up more. The Farwell Steers lost 35-14 to the Stratford Elks. The game was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Steers couldn't quite close it out.

Stratford found their leader in sophomore Chase Lantelme, who threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Darius Jones did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 84 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Farwell and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Stratford, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Farwell will welcome Sudan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stratford, they will challenge Crosbyton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stratford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Crosbyton likes a good challenge.
