Baseball Recap: Hopewell Valley Central Triumphs

While Hopewell Valley Central's win against Nottingham wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs skirted past the Northstars 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since May 23, 2024.

Chase Garrow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garrow was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Hopewell Valley Central: the team is 2-0-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Owen Lengle was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Blake Echternacht was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Hopewell Valley Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in five consecutive matches.

Hopewell Valley Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Nottingham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopewell Valley Central will head out to challenge Warren Hills Regional at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Nottingham, they will challenge Lawrence at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
