It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Morehead had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Southwestern Randolph Cougars. Considering Morehead has won 18 matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Anderson Nance made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Nance was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Carson Moore was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lucas Brooks, who went 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Morehead's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-2. As for Southwestern Randolph, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.
