Baseball Recap: North Platte Triumphs

North Platte had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-16 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Standing Bear Grizzlies 8-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 back in March.

North Platte let Kade Songster and Jaxon Peters run wild. Songster went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Peters went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Peters is becoming a predictor of North Platte's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 3-15 when he doesn't). Caden Joneson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

As for Standing Bear, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 27th.

On Standing Bear's side, Thunder Carlson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Schacher, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As of now, neither North Platte nor Standing Bear have any future games scheduled.
