Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Emerald's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Emerald's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Fountain Inn Fury by a score of 6-2. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Fury last Monday, they had to take a 15-3 loss.

Finn Howard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aaron Polly was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Cody Scott, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Emerald is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Fountain Inn, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-4.

Emerald will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Fury: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
