Football Recap: Gage Park Takes a Loss

Gage Park fell victim to Back of the Yards College Prep and their airtight defense on Thursday. They were beaten by the Bobcats 42-0. The Fighting Owls haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

It was another big night for Marko Franco, who rushed for 125 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries for Back of the Yards College Prep. Franco didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made seven total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Gage Park's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Back of the Yards College Prep, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gage Park will host DuSable/Tilden/Air Force Academy at 12:45 p.m. on October 4. As for Back of the Yards College Prep, they will take on Kelly at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' defense has only allowed 11 points per game this season, so the Bobcats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
