Softball Recap: Macarthur Wins Going Away Against Jay

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southwest, MacArthur was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Jay Mustangs a 16-0 shutout. That 16-run margin sets a new team best for the Brahmas this season.

Jessie Salazar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last 11 matchups. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sienna Richmond, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Miranda Lerma was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

MacArthur's record is now 9-12. As for Jay, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9-1.

Looking ahead, MacArthur will face off against Southside at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jay, they will take on Harlandale at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.85 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
