Baseball Recap: Newkirk Comes Up Short

After flying high against Frontier last Tuesday, Newkirk came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the Perry Maroons by a score of 13-11 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Maroons: they've now lost nine in a row.

Lane Stone was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyson Thiel, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Newkirk's loss dropped their record down to 8-8-1. As for Perry, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.

Coming up, Newkirk will head out on the road to challenge Depew at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Perry, they will be playing at home against Morrison at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
