Basketball Recap: Fostoria Falls Despite Big Games from Brooklyn Holman and Lyrique Johnson

Fostoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 65-46 fall against the Genoa Area Comets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-35 back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Fostoria had strong showings from Lyrique Johnson, who posted ten points and six rebounds, and Brooklyn Holman, who earned eight points. Holman is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Alycia Middlebrooks, who had six points.

Fostoria's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Genoa Area, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fostoria will welcome Rossford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Genoa Area, they will host Maumee at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
