Baseball Game Preview: Hoover Vikings vs. Perry Panthers

The Hoover Vikings will square off against the Perry Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoover's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Perry's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hoover took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against Normandy by a score of 6-3.

Danny Holihan looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Roman Geiselman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Jack Andes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Perry beat Copley 7-2 on Saturday.

Perry is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hoover, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Hoover came out on top in a nail-biter against Perry in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
