Softball Recap: Gregori Comes Up Short

Gregori had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 10-10 to make it four. They fell 8-5 to the Turlock Bulldogs. The Jaguars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 18-6.

As for Turlock, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Turlock's part, Audrey Bailey was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Bailey has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Maxwell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Rylee Murphy, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Gregori didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 23-5 victory against Modesto on the 28th. As for Turlock, they have also already played their next matchup, an 8-5 win against Enochs on the 28th.
