National Trail piles up the points against Lockland

Recap: National Trail Blazers vs. Lockland Panthers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mississinawa Valley, the National Trail Blazers were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 45-8 victory over Lockland. That 45-8 margin sets a new team best for National Trail this season.

Lockland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaylah Smith, who scored a points along with 12 rebounds and six blocks. Smith is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. Alayah Jefferson was another key contributor, scoring a points along with five rebounds and four steals.

National Trail's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Lockland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

National Trail will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Preble Shawnee at 7:15 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Lockland will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Seven Hills at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Seven Hills will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
