Basketball Recap: Cyprus Takes a Loss

Cyprus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 55-39 bruising from the Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs. The Pirates lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in December of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 83-34 score last time.

Judge Memorial Catholic can attribute much of their success to Makena Gardner, who posted 12 points. That's the most points Gardner has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyssia Gallardo, who earned nine points.

Cyprus' defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.

Cyprus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 52-16 loss against Fremont on the 3rd. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-28 defeat against Grantsville on the 3rd.
