Softball Recap: Walton-Verona Comes Up Short

Walton-Verona lost against Collins back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Walton-Verona fell 15-10 to Collins. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jennifer Alexander and Kaitlyn Lemming did some serious damage despite the final result: Alexander scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Lemming scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Nova Dryden also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Even though they lost, Walton-Verona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Walton-Verona's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Collins, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walton-Verona will venture away from home to square off against Boone County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Collins, they will head out to challenge George Rogers Clark at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
