Basketball Recap: Atlanta Area School for the Deaf Panthers vs. Utopian Academy for the Arts
Atlanta Area School for the Deaf had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against Utopian Academy for the Arts, falling 100-10.
Utopian Academy for the Arts got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jace Franklin out in front who shot 71% from the field on his way to 24 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. What's more, Franklin posted two assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Quevion Johnson, who went 8-for-11 to rack up 17 points along with seven assists and seven steals.
Looking ahead, Atlanta Area School for the Deaf will host Alabama School for the Deaf at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Utopian Academy for the Arts, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 57-56 victory against Dominion Christian on the 11th.
